“K민화, 명지에서 그 시작을 알리다” — 두 번째 이야기, 전통과 감성이 어우러진 민화의 향연

빠르게 흘러가는 시간 속에서 어느덧 2025년의 끝자락을 향하고 있다.
매년 어려운 여건 속에서도 한 해를 마무리하는 전시를 이어온 K민화 작가들은, 지난 해 명지대학교 MCC 코이노니아홀에서의 성대한 전시로 큰 감동을 남겼다.

당시 전시는 **“K민화, 명지에서 그 시작을 알리다”**라는 주제로, 50여 명의 등록 작가들이 참여해 100여 점이 넘는 작품을 선보였다. 학교 총장님을 비롯한 지역 주민과 관계자들이 대거 방문해 전통 민화의 새로운 가능성과 감동을 함께 나누었던 자리였다.

그 감동의 여운이 채 가시기도 전에, 또 한 번의 아름다운 전시가 준비되고 있다.
바로 **“K민화, 명지에서 그 시작을 알리다 — 두 번째 이야기”**다.
이번 전시는 11월 2일부터 7일까지 명지전문대 도서관에서 열리며, 55명의 등록 작가들이 참여한다. 도서관 공간이 ‘한마당 민화’로 물들며, 지역 주민과 학생들이 함께 어우러지는 문화축제의 장이 될 예정이다.

현재 도록은 마무리 단계에 있으며, 민화 전문 잡지에도 소개될 예정이라고 한다.

작가들의 땀과 열정이 깃든 작품들이 도록 속에 한 장 한 장 생명을 얻고, 전시장에서 다시 빛을 발할 그날을 생각하면 벌써부터 설렘이 가득하다.

이번 행사는 학교 관계자들의 전폭적인 지원과 참여 작가들의 헌신이 더해져 더욱 풍성하게 꾸려질 예정이다.
전년도 전시의 생생한 사진들이 도록 속에 삽입되어, 그때의 감동과 전통의 맥이 다시금 이어질 것이다.

As time swiftly passes, the year 2025 is already drawing to a close.
Despite many challenges, the K-Minhwa artists have held an annual year-end exhibition every year without fail.

Last year, the exhibition titled “K-Minhwa: Announcing Its Beginning at Myongji” was held at the MCC Koinonia Hall of Myongji University, featuring over 100 works by more than 50 registered artists. The event drew great attention from the university president, local residents, and art enthusiasts, creating a meaningful celebration of traditional Korean painting and its contemporary revival.

The lingering emotion from that exhibition still feels vivid, yet another exciting event is already underway.
The upcoming exhibition, “K-Minhwa: Announcing Its Beginning at Myongji — The Second Story,” will be held at Myongji College Library from November 2 to 7, 2025.

This second edition will feature 55 participating K-Minhwa artists, transforming the library into a cultural space filled with the beauty and spirit of folk painting. It will also include various community programs that bring together local residents and students through art.

The exhibition catalog is now being finalized and will be introduced in the Minhwa Magazine, highlighting the passion and dedication of all participating artists. Each page of the catalog captures the heart and soul of their work, and the thought of seeing it come to life at the exhibition brings great excitement and gratitude.

With the generous support of the university and the sincere efforts of all 55 K-Minhwa artists, this exhibition promises to be another meaningful celebration of creativity and tradition.
Photographs from last year’s exhibition will also be included in the catalog, capturing the vivid moments and emotions that continue to inspire this year’s journey.
