 If the Blue Dragon guards the East and embodies the energy of spring,
the Yellow Dragon (Hwangnyong, 黃龍) reigns at the center, embracing the vital force of heaven and earth.
In ancient cosmology, the Yellow Dragon represented the element Earth among the Five Elements (Ohaeng, 五行),
symbolizing harmony, balance, and the nurturing power of nature that connects all things.

 As the sovereign among the Four Guardian Dragons,
the Yellow Dragon was depicted with golden scales shimmering like sunlight,
surrounded by radiant clouds and divine light.
Among all dragons, he was the holiest —
a sacred omen foretelling the birth of a great ruler or an age of peace and prosperity.
Historical records from the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties tell of sightings of the Yellow Dragon,
each regarded as a sign of divine favor and the coming of a benevolent reign.
